Bio

Eureika Bishop, native of Birmingham, Alabama, is an English teacher at Midfield High School. Eureika serves at the English Department Head, Senior Advisor, and Varsity Cheer Coach. She teaches 11th grade Honors English, 12th grade Honors and General English, and Journalism. Eureika is a member of Faith Chapel Christian Center under the leadership of Dr. Michael Moore and a member of The Junior League of Birmingham.

Eureika received her bachelor’s degree from Miles College in Secondary Education, her master’s degree from Concordia University-Portland in Reading & Curriculum, and a current doctoral student at Concordia University-Portland in Transformational Leadership with a graduation date set for December 2019.

Eureika has always had a love for learning and helping students succeed in life. She has participated in several mentoring groups and started her own, Destiny Mentoring Group, in 2013. Through Destiny Mentoring Group, Eureika served 40 girls from the 6th-8th grade and helped them develop and grow socially, academically, and personally. Currently, she uses her role as Varsity Cheer Coach to mentor girl’s 9th-10th grade in the same dynamics.

While teaching at Midfield, Eureika takes on many different roles and is able to mentor the students that she serves while teaching them in the classroom. She is very personable and has built a strong bond with the students at Midfield. Eureika has also built a strong bond with community stakeholders that serve the student in Midfield.

Today, she continues to stay true to her passion of learning, mentorship, and bonding while being a classroom teacher.
